# AI Coaching — Feature Guide

## What it is

A detailed walkthrough of every part of the AI Coaching space. If you are brand new, start with [Getting Started](ai-coaching-getting-started.md) first.

### The Dashboard

The Dashboard is your home screen inside AI Coaching. It shows all the interview topics available to you, organized so what is most relevant leads.

- **In progress** interviews appear at the top — these are conversations you have started but not yet finished.
- **Browse by theme** fills the middle — a filter bar (Foundation, Deep analysis, Problem solving, Work, Ongoing, Optional) and a search box let you narrow the list. Interviews are grouped into theme sections beneath.
- **Completed** interviews sit at the bottom, dimmed. Each completed card shows a **View artifact** button and a **...** menu with options to redo the interview, reset it, or open the original chat.

A **journey strip** at the top tracks your progress ("2 of 8 complete") and shows your recommended next step. Once you have completed three interviews, it marks the Core Profile milestone as unlocked.

No interview is ever locked. Cards that build on earlier work show a quiet "Builds on ..." note — guidance, not a gate.

## Where to find it

### Search

The **Search** pane lets you search across your coaching artifacts and bookmarks by meaning, not just keywords. Open it from the Search button in the AI Coaching sidebar.

- **Type a question or phrase** in the search box — results appear after a short pause (300ms debounce). You need at least 3 characters.
- **Results** are ranked by semantic relevance. Each result shows a title, a relevance score (as a percentage), a text snippet, and the date it was last updated.
- **Click a result** to jump straight to it — artifact results open the artifact detail pane, bookmark results take you to the bookmarks section.
- **Suggestion chips** appear when the search box is empty — common starting points like "What are my core values?" or "Show my growth areas" that you can click to search instantly.

The search uses the same on-device embedding model as the global session search, so your data never leaves your computer.

### Sessions

The **Sessions** section lists your active coaching conversations, grouped by status:

- **Needs You** — Claude is waiting on your reply.
- **Active** — the conversation is currently running.
- **Snoozed** — you have snoozed the session until a future time.
- **Scheduled** — a response is queued via Send Later.
- **Paused** — you have paused the conversation.

Click any session to open it in the right pane, just like a regular Omniscio session.

### Artifacts

The **Artifacts** section lists every written document saved from your interviews, newest first. Click one to open it.

#### Viewing an artifact

The artifact opens in a reading pane showing the rendered text, a title, version number, date, and word count.

#### Editing

Click **Edit** to switch to a text editor. The artifact uses markdown formatting. There is a 20,000-character limit. **Ctrl+S** (Cmd+S on Mac) saves without leaving the keyboard. If you change your mind, **Cancel** takes you back — with a confirmation prompt if you have unsaved changes.

Each save creates a new version. Your previous versions are never overwritten.

#### Detail level

The **Detail level** control below the title lets you choose how much of this artifact is shared with your other AI sessions:

- **Auto** — Omniscio picks the best fit based on available space (this is the default).
- **Full** — the complete text.
- **Key Points** — the essentials as structured bullets.
- **Summary** — a 2-4 paragraph executive summary.
- **Micro** — a one-or-two-sentence overview.

The three shorter versions are generated automatically in the background after you save. Levels that have not been generated yet appear greyed out. Switching to a shorter level previews it in the pane — a banner reminds you that you are reading a condensed version, not your full profile.

#### Version history

When an artifact has more than one version, a **Version history** toggle appears in the metadata strip. Expanding it lists every version with its date. You can:

- **View** an older version (read-only).
- **Restore** an older version — this opens the editor pre-filled with that version's content. Saving creates a brand-new version on top; nothing is overwritten or destroyed.
- **Compare** an older version against the latest to see what changed.

#### Pinning context

When you have multiple artifacts, you can choose which ones are loaded in full for a specific interview. This is called **pinning**.

- On the Dashboard, open a completed card's **...** menu to set the pins for that interview topic.
- Inside a running session, the header has a **pin button** to set pins for just that session.

Artifacts you pin are read in full by your coach. Everything else appears in a lightweight menu that the coach can pull from on demand — so your context stays focused without losing access to anything.

#### Exporting and deleting

- **Copy** copies the artifact text to your clipboard.
- **Export** downloads the artifact as a `.md` file.
- **Delete** (in the **...** menu) removes the artifact and all its versions. A confirmation dialog shows how many versions will be removed.

### Bookmarks

The **Bookmarks** section collects key moments you have saved from coaching conversations — a quote, an insight, or something worth revisiting.

Each bookmark shows the quoted text, an optional label, and the date. You can:

- **Add a label** by clicking the tag icon — labels help you organize and filter bookmarks later. An autocomplete suggests labels you have used before.
- **Filter** by label using the dropdown at the top.
- **Search** across bookmark text and labels.
- **Copy** or **Delete** any bookmark.

When you have a manageable number of distinct labels (up to 10), bookmarks automatically group by label, with an "Unlabeled" section at the bottom.

Your bookmarks are also shared with your AI coach as "Key Moments" — so Claude can reference your important realizations in future interviews.

**If the pane says it couldn't load your bookmarks**, that is a failed read, not an empty list — your saved bookmarks are still there. Click **Retry** to fetch them again; the button pauses briefly between attempts so a repeated tap can't hammer a call that is still failing. Earlier builds showed the ordinary "No bookmarks yet" empty state in this situation, which read as though your bookmarks had been lost.

### Core Profile

After three completed interviews, Omniscio generates a **Core Profile** — a short synthesis that captures who you are across all your artifacts. It includes your primary themes and values, key life facts, tensions and contradictions, and open questions worth exploring.

The profile updates automatically after every new artifact save. It appears at the very top of the context your coach receives, giving it a cohesive understanding of you before diving into specific artifacts.

You can view your Core Profile in the AI Coaching sidebar (on mobile, it has its own tab).

### Coaching style

You can change how your coach communicates in **Settings → AI Coach → Coaching Style**:

- **Warm** (default) — affirming, patient, and gently paced.
- **Neutral** — professional, balanced, and collaborative.
- **Direct** — efficient, straightforward, and incisive.

The style applies to the next session you start — it does not change sessions already running.

### Archived

The **Archived** section lists coaching sessions you have archived. Click any row to re-open the conversation read-only. Archiving a session does not affect its artifacts.

## How it behaves

### How artifacts inform your regular sessions

Saved artifacts are not just for coaching. When you start a session in any of your real projects, a condensed version of your profile is quietly shared with Claude so it understands who you are.

- The profile is fitted to a budget — if you have many artifacts, the larger ones are automatically condensed to shorter levels so everything fits.
- You control the level per artifact using the **Detail level** control described above.
- The whole feature is gated by the "Enable AI Coaching" toggle in Settings. Turn it off and nothing is shared.
