# Animated logo

## What it is

The Omniscio logo (the glowing orb) swirls with the same animation the website uses. It
appears wherever the logo greets you: in the title bar at the top of the app, in the Quick Launch
header, on the loading card while Omniscio starts, and in the small downloader the website's
Download button hands out. It is decoration only: it never changes what the logo does, and
switching it off shows exactly the still logo Omniscio had before.

## Where to find it

- **Title bar:** the logo at the top-left, which is also the button that opens your inbox.
- **Quick Launch:** the logo in the header of the Quick Launch window.
- **Loading card:** the small window that shows while Omniscio starts up.
- **Downloader:** the orb at the top of the website's Windows downloader.
- **The switch:** right-click the title-bar logo and untick **Animated logo**, or open
**Settings → Appearance → Motion** and turn off **Animated logo**. Both flip the same setting.

## How it behaves

- **Only while you are using the window.** In the title bar and Quick Launch the orb starts still
and begins swirling on your first mouse move, click, key press or touch. It stops the moment the
window goes into the background or is minimized, and after two minutes with no input; it picks
up again on your next input.
- **On the loading card**, it swirls while the app loads. The card itself appears exactly as fast
as before: it shows the still logo first and switches to the swirl once the animation is ready.
- **In the downloader**, it swirls while the window is open and holds still when the window is
  minimized.
- **Less motion always wins.** If your computer is set to reduce motion, Motion & Polish is
switched off, or Low Power Mode is on, every logo in the app stays still even with the switch on. The downloader follows Windows'
own **Show animations in Windows** setting.
- **Turning it off is instant,** with no restart. The next loading card follows your choice too.
- **The browser version of Omniscio** always shows the still logo.
- **It is light.** While it plays it uses a small slice of one processor core; when it rests it
uses nothing. If an animation file is missing or cannot play, you simply see the still logo.

## For agents

- Setting key: `animatedLogo` (boolean, default `true`), patchable over the CLI:
  `PATCH /settings/animatedLogo`.
- One code switch turns every in-app logo still for everyone and hides both switches:
  `ANIMATED_LOGO_ENABLED` in `src/shared/animated-logo.ts`. The downloader's twin is
`ANIMATED_ORB` in `native/win/bootstrap-installer.rs` (takes effect on its next rebuild).
- In-app logo: `src/renderer/src/components/ui/AnimatedLogo.tsx` (plays via `useWindowActive` +
  `useRecentUserInput`); loading card: `src/main/services/splash/splash-swirl.ts` +
  `__amcSplashSwirl` in `splash-html-builder.ts`; right-click row: `ToolbarContextMenu.tsx`.
- Animation files: `src/renderer/public/omniscio-orb-swirl.webm` (96 px, 12 fps),
  `resources/amc-logo-splash-swirl.webm` (128 px), `native/win/bootstrap-orb-frames.jpg` +
  `bootstrap-orb-alpha.png` (downloader).
- Rules and the tests that enforce them: `.claude/memory/contracts/animated-logo-contract.md`.
