title: Swiping a mobile pop-up away (flick down to close)

# Swipe to dismiss (mobile)

## What it is

### What it does

On a phone, when something pops up and covers most of the screen — the **account
panel** (the menu behind the account button in the mobile header, with your
accounts and usage bars), or one of Omniscio's **bottom sheets** (the project picker,
filter and options sheets) — you can now **flick it downward to close it**.

Before, those closed only by tapping the thin strip outside them, an X, or a
close key (phones have no Escape key). Now a downward swipe closes them, the way
phones normally dismiss a sheet. Tapping outside and the close buttons still
work — the swipe is an extra way to close, never a replacement.

## Where to find it

On a phone, on anything that pops up over the screen: the **account panel** behind the mobile header's account button, and the app's shared **bottom sheets** (the project picker, filter and option sheets). There is no setting to find — the gesture is simply there.

## How it behaves

### How to use it

- Put a finger on the pop-up and **flick down**, and it closes.
- Every dismissable pop-up now has a small **grab handle** at its top (the little
pill). Flick that handle down and it closes **straight away**, however far you've
  scrolled the list.
- If instead you flick down _on the list itself_ while scrolled into it, the drag
first **scrolls back to the top** — keep pulling once you're at the top and it
closes. (Use the grab handle to skip that.)
- A short nudge or a slow drag won't close it — it takes a real downward flick
(or a clear, far-enough pull), so you won't dismiss things by accident.
- A two-finger pinch (zoom) never closes it.

### When it applies

- **Mobile only** — a narrow, touch screen. The desktop app is completely
  unaffected.
- It's on for the **account panel** and Omniscio's shared **bottom sheets**. It is
deliberately **not** on the full-screen Quick scratchpad, so a stray swipe
can't throw away what you're typing — close that with its X.

There's no setting to turn this on or off; the swipe just works alongside the
existing close buttons.

steps back through screens (a different gesture from this flick-to-close).
- For engineers: the gesture and its invariants are locked in the
  `mobile-swipe-dismiss-contract` (in `.claude/memory/contracts/`); any new
screen-covering mobile overlay reuses the `useSwipeToDismiss` hook rather than
  wiring its own touch handlers.
