title: Prompt Tools group

# Prompt Tools group (sidebar)

## What it is

The **Prompt Tools** group is a collapsible row in the Omniscio projects sidebar that gathers the features for **crafting, running, and reusing prompts** into one place. It ships **collapsed by default** — click its chevron to expand.

### What's inside

- **Super Prompts** — browse and launch the reusable prompt library (the curated starter prompts; pin, duplicate, or author your own).
- **Super Prompt Creator** — design a brand-new super-prompt through a guided interview (the "PromptArchitect" builtin super-prompt).
- **Bake-Off** — launch one prompt across many projects × harness setups at once (formerly "Fan Out").
- **AI Council** — ask a panel of AI models one question and get a single synthesized answer (gated on the `multi-model-council` feature).
- **Clean Room** — spawn a totally fresh, vanilla Claude Code session (zero customization) to test a prompt.

## Where to find it

The group is a row in the Omniscio projects sidebar, normally sitting **collapsed** so it takes up
one line until you expand it. The same tools are also reachable from the sessions sidebar's **⋮
overflow menu → Prompt Tools ▸** submenu, which opens them as modals without leaving the current
view.

## How it behaves

### How to use it

- Click the **chevron** on the left of the row to expand/collapse. The choice persists across launches.
- Click the **group row itself** (not the chevron) to open a small roll-up panel that lists the members; each one is a shortcut.
- Three of the four members are **action rows**: clicking Super Prompts / Super Prompt Creator / Bake-Off fires the action (open the picker, launch the creator prompt, open the Bake-Off dialog) instead of switching to a panel. Clean Room spawns a fresh session.
- To move a member out for solo sidebar use, **drag it** or right-click and choose **Remove from Category**; **Return to Prompt Tools** puts it back.

### From the sessions ⋮ menu (Prompt Tools submenu)

Besides the sidebar group, every prompt tool is reachable from the sessions sidebar's **⋮ overflow menu** → **Prompt Tools ▸** submenu (this replaced the old single "Super Prompts" menu item). The flyout opens with a **Prompt Tools Hub** row preselected (focused), followed by each tool. Clicking a row opens **that tool's modal** without leaving the current view:

- **Overseer** opens a modal that starts an always-on Overseer watching **the repo you are
currently in** — the point being you can do it from any repo without going to Settings. It
  writes one thing (that project's Overseer override) and launches with the stock instructions;
renaming it or changing what it watches for stays in the Overseers panel, which owns that
editor. The row appears only when the `overseer` feature is on, and the button is disabled
when the project already has one or when no project is selected.
- **Super Prompts** / **Bake-Off** open their existing picker / fan-out dialog.
- **AI Council** opens a modal to type a question and pick a panel (council template), then launches a council seeded with that question.
- **Clean Room** opens a modal to pick a provider/model (and an optional first message), then starts the vanilla session.
- **Super Prompt Creator** opens a launcher that starts the guided interview (the interview itself collects what you want to build).
- **Prompt Tools Hub** opens a modal listing every tool; clicking one opens that tool's modal.

**AI Council** appears in the submenu (and the Hub modal) only when the `multi-model-council` feature is visible; **Overseer** likewise appears only when the `overseer` feature is visible. Note that Overseer is in the ⋮ submenu and the Hub modal but **not** in the sidebar group's member list. The submenu shows wherever the standard sessions sidebar renders (`shouldShowSuperPromptsMenuItem`).

## For agents

`prompt-tools` entry in [integration-registry.ts](../../src/shared/integration-registry.ts); its children carry `parentGroupId: 'prompt-tools'`. The three action rows (`bakeoff`, `super-prompts`, `super-prompt-creator`) are `rendersPanel: false` and non-spawnable; their click is intercepted at the universal funnel `setActiveProject` via `maybeHandleSidebarAction` / `SIDEBAR_ACTION_ROWS` ([sidebar-action-rows.ts](../../src/renderer/src/lib/sidebar-action-rows.ts)), which dispatches an `amc:sidebar-action` window event handled in [useAppCustomEvents.ts](../../src/renderer/src/app/useAppCustomEvents.ts). Collapse state: `promptToolsCollapsed` (default `true`). See the [sidebar category grouping contract](../../.claude/memory/contracts/sidebar-category-grouping-contract.md).

**⋮-menu submenu + modals:** the sessions ⋮ menu's Prompt Tools entry is a `submenu` on `SidebarHeaderMenuItem` ([SidebarHeaderMenu.tsx](../../src/renderer/src/features/dashboard/SidebarHeaderMenu.tsx)), wired in [SidebarHeader.tsx](../../src/renderer/src/features/dashboard/SidebarHeader.tsx) and gated by the same `shouldShowSuperPromptsMenuItem` predicate. Each row opens a modal via `usePromptToolModalStore` ([prompt-tool-modal-store.ts](../../src/renderer/src/features/prompt-tools/prompt-tool-modal-store.ts)); the four modals live in [features/prompt-tools/](../../src/renderer/src/features/prompt-tools/) and mount lazily from [GlobalModals.tsx](../../src/renderer/src/app/GlobalModals.tsx). AI Council launch reuses the fail-closed `requestCouncilQuickLaunch` ([council-launch.ts](../../src/renderer/src/lib/council-launch.ts)) with an additive optional `templateId` on `PendingCouncilQuickLaunch`; the AI Council row/modal is gated on `isUnreleasedFeatureVisibleInRenderer('multi-model-council', …)`.
