title: Summarize Video Skill (smrzz to KMS capture)

# Summarize Video Skill

## What it is

A Claude Code skill (`/summarize-video`) that takes a video, podcast, or article URL, sends it to the smrzz plugin for AI summarization, creates a single KMS note with the result, and offers a brief follow-up interview for additional extraction (to-dos to Mission Control, separate concept notes, etc.).

The default path is zero-friction: drop a link, get a note in `Summaries/` in your KMS vault. The follow-up interview ("Do you need me to do anything else with this?") handles the 10% case where you also want action items extracted to Mission Control, separate concept notes, or other post-processing.

## Where to find it

It is a Claude Code skill, so it is invoked from inside a session by typing its slash command with a video, podcast or article link. There is no panel or button.

## How it behaves

### How to use it

1. In any Claude Code session, type `/summarize-video` or say "summarize this video."
2. Provide a URL (inline with the command, or when prompted).
3. The skill checks that smrzz is connected and KMS is enabled, submits the URL to smrzz, polls until the summary is ready, and creates a KMS note at `Summaries/<video-title>.md` with frontmatter tags and the full summary.
4. After creating the note, the skill asks: "Do you need me to do anything else with this?"
   - Say "no" and you're done.
   - Say "pull out the to-dos for Mission Control" and it extracts action items to the Mission Control PM surface.
   - Say "make a separate note about X" and it creates additional KMS notes.

### Prerequisites

- **smrzz plugin** must be installed and connected (sign in via the smrzz sidebar panel)
- **KMS** must be enabled with at least one vault configured (Settings > KMS)

## For agents

### How it works (for AI agents / contributors)

The skill is a pure instruction file at [/.claude/skills/summarize-video/SKILL.md](/.claude/skills/summarize-video/SKILL.md). It contains no application code. It teaches the AI to drive two existing systems via the Omniscio CLI:

- **smrzz plugin CLI** (`/plugins/smrzz/cli/*`) — `POST summarize` to submit, `GET job?id=` to poll, `GET export?id=&format=markdown` or `GET summary?id=` to read the result
- **KMS REST API** (`/kms/notes`) — `POST /kms/notes` to create the vault note

The note includes YAML frontmatter with tags, source URL, author, and date.
