Job Monitor (see and stop long-running processes)
The Job Monitor lists every long-lived process Omniscio is holding, so when something is still running after it should have stopped, you can see it and **kill it**.
What it is
A read-only dashboard of the long-lived test, build, dev-server and sandbox processes Omniscio is running. It is built for the case where many sessions work at once and one of them starts something that runs away — a test loop that never ends, a process left behind by a crash. The Job Monitor is where you see it and stop it.
Each row shows:
- Type and workspace — what the process is and which workspace it belongs to.
- PID, uptime, CPU and memory — the live cost of the process.
- Status — running, stale (its process appears gone) or dead.
It also lists the wait queue — sessions that are waiting for a free slot before they can start their heavy work — so a queue that is not moving is visible rather than silent.
Where to find it
Off by default. Turn the row on from the sidebar's ⋮ menu → Sidebar Items (the picker that lists every available sidebar row, grouped). Job Monitor sits under Developer Tools. Once enabled it appears as its own sidebar tile, and it can also be opened as a floating always-on-top window you keep beside your work. On the web and mobile it is read-only and reduced.
How it behaves
- Kill stops the whole process tree. The Kill button terminates the process and every child under it. It asks for confirmation first, because it is destructive: any in-flight output and any uncommitted changes inside that runner are lost.
- Release is the safe one. If a slot is held by a process that is already gone, Release frees the slot for the next runner — nothing is running, so nothing is lost.
- Watching costs nothing. The panel is a view; opening it does not start any work, and closing it stops the subscription it was reading.
- Runtime tracking continues whether or not the row is shown — hiding the tile does not stop Omniscio tracking processes; it only hides the window onto them.
For agents
- Panel and actions:
src/renderer/src/features/job-monitor/JobMonitorPanel.tsx(rows: type / workspace / PID / uptime / CPU / memory / status; Kill = tree-killtaskkill /F /Ton Windows after a confirm; Release-dead-slot for a slot whose PID is confirmed gone). - UI anchors (destructive reasoning):
src/renderer/src/features/job-monitor/job-monitor.ui-anchors.ts. - The CLI surface (
/job-monitor/jobs/:id/kill) is gated by thejobMonitorEnabledsetting —src/shared/types/settings/sidebar-visibility-settings.ts(defaultfalse; the row is render-only, and the underlying process tracking keeps running regardless).
