What it is
The front door for when Omniscio is misbehaving. Find the line that matches what you're actually seeing, and follow it. Every destination is a real page with the full fix — this page only points.
You don't need to know what caused it. Describe the symptom to yourself in plain words and pick the closest match.
In a hurry, or not sure which line fits? Open any session and say: "Something's wrong with Omniscio — here's what I'm seeing: …" Your agent can read the diagnostics and work it out with you. That is always a valid first move.
Where to find it
This page is the entry point — it is a list of symptoms. Read down it, find the line that matches what you are seeing, and follow it to the page carrying the fix.
How it behaves
The app itself
| What you're seeing | Go to |
|---|---|
| It won't open. You click the icon, maybe more than once, and nothing appears — or it says it's already running | App already running, or frozen |
| The window went blank/white. The frame is still there — minimise and close still work — but the sidebar and chat are gone | Blank-screen recovery button |
| Everything is slow, hitching, or freezing. Fans spinning, the whole computer feels heavy | Computer feels slow? |
| My sessions vanished after a crash, a restart, or a Windows update | Crash recovery — they come back on their own; this explains what to expect |
| It's behaving strangely and I want to isolate it. You want everything automatic turned off so you can test by hand | Safe Mode |
A session is stuck
Four different stucks that look similar but have different fixes. Match the detail, not the vibe.
| What you're seeing | Go to |
|---|---|
| An amber dot / "Needs You" on the session, and it won't move until you do something | Session stuck in Needs You — the sub-label (Question · Permission · Rate Limited · Auth Error · Stopped) tells you which fix |
| The spinner says "thinking" forever and nothing ever arrives | Auto-restart stuck sessions — Omniscio usually catches this itself within a few minutes |
| It stopped part-way through a reply and there's nothing after the last message | Context stall recovery — Omniscio nudges it to continue, then sends it to your inbox if that fails |
| A reply just disappeared — the session went silent mid-answer | Aborted response recovery — it retries quietly; a Retry pill appears if you want to force it |
Not sure which? Start with the first row. The "Needs You" page is the one that covers the most cases, and it tells you how to read the sub-label.
Connection, sign-in, and scheduled work
| What you're seeing | Go to |
|---|---|
| An amber "You're offline" banner, and sessions have stopped making progress | Offline banner — they pause and resume on their own when your connection returns |
| Sign-in trouble with a Claude account, or you're not sure which sign-in method a session is using | Auth pathways |
| A scheduled job failed and you want to know why, or stop it nagging | Cron failure alerts |
| An agent can't get into a website it needs to be logged into | Browser logins |
Nothing above matches
Two things worth trying before anything drastic:
- Restart Omniscio. Settings apply live, but anything that got into a bad state usually clears on a restart. It's free and it costs you nothing but a few seconds — your sessions come back on their own (Crash recovery explains how).
- Ask an agent. Open any session and describe what you're seeing in your own words. It can read the app's own diagnostics, which you can't see from the outside, and it will tell you what it finds.
If it's reproducible and looks like a real bug, say so in a session — Omniscio can file it with the diagnostic detail attached, which is far more useful than a description alone.
For developers
Two recovery surfaces here are not for everyday use — they need the local control server and a bearer token:
- CLI session recovery — force-restart a dead session process, move it to another account, or nudge an idle one, over HTTP.
- Heap snapshot diagnostics — get a JSON summary of where Omniscio's memory has gone, without opening DevTools.
For agents
When you want to look under the hood
| What you want | Go to |
|---|---|
| See which process is eating the CPU or memory, live, and kill it if needed | Resources diagnostic panel — Settings → Tools & Maintenance → Diagnostics → Resources |
| Turn all automatic behavior off and test manually | Safe Mode |
| The full cheapest-first performance checklist (settings toggles → cleanup → offload → hardware) | Computer feels slow? |
