AI Manager

AI Manager is where you control the AI that runs at the end of each agent turn — Inbox Pilot routing and the Plain Speak overlay. It gives you one place to pause everything, edit a rule, check today's spend, or switch the automation off everywhere.

What it is

AI Manager is the oversight layer for Omniscio's turn-end AI pipeline. When an agent finishes a reply, two optional automations can act on it: the Inbox Pilot classifier, which sorts each turn, and the Plain Speak overlay, which rewrites a finished reply into a glance-readable card. AI Manager is the panel that governs both.

It is the "who is watching the watcher" surface: because these automations spend money and change what you see, AI Manager gives you a single, obvious place to see their state, rein them in, and turn them off.

Where to find it

AI Manager is its own settings-style panel. Inside it you'll find:

  • A pause-all switch — the emergency stop that halts every AI Manager automation at once.
  • The rules for each feature (Inbox Pilot's routing rule and Plain Speak's rule), which you edit as plain-language instructions.
  • Today's spend for AI Manager, so the cost of the automation is always visible.
  • The per-session toggles and a bulk disable that turns AI Manager off across every session in one action.

How it behaves

Flipping the pause-all switch stops the automations immediately; flipping it back resumes them. Editing a feature's rule changes how that feature behaves on the next turn. The daily-spend readout answers "how much has AI Manager spent today" for a given feature. The bulk-disable action is the broadest lever: it turns AI Manager off on every session at once, rather than one session at a time.

Because the router half is gated behind Inbox Pilot, some AI Manager routes only respond when Inbox Pilot is enabled; the overlay half is independent and survives Inbox Pilot being off.

For agents

  • The AI Manager IPC handlers are src/main/ipc/ai-manager-handlers.ts; the CLI route family is src/main/services/cli/route-families/ai-manager-cli.routes.ts over src/main/services/cli/cli-server-ai-manager-routes.ts.
  • Key routes: POST /ai-manager/pause-all ({ paused }), PATCH /ai-manager/rules/:feature (:feature = router|overlay), GET /ai-manager/daily-cost (?feature), POST /ai-manager/sessions/bulk-disable, plus per-session toggle/decisions routes.
  • The normalized rule config also appears in GET /settings; router-family routes are Inbox-Pilot-gated and the router rule is Inbox-Pilot-gated as well.
