Instant Fix (fix highlighted text in place with one key)
Instant Fix — highlight text, press one hotkey, and a fast AI fixes it in your own voice and replaces the selection in place, in Omniscio's text boxes and in any app on Windows.
Highlight some text, press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+G (Cmd+Shift+Option+G on a Mac), and about a second later the selection is replaced by a cleaned-up version — no panel, no copy and paste.
Where it works
- Inside Omniscio — any text box you can type in (the chat composer, notes, forms), on every desktop platform.
- In any other app on Windows — email, browsers, Word, chat apps. On macOS and Linux it works inside Omniscio only.
- Not in password fields — Instant Fix refuses them before reading anything.
- Not on the phone web view, which has no text selection to grab.
What it changes
Choose the Cleanup level in Settings → Sessions → Per-feature AI models → Instant Fix:
- Fix and tidy up (default) — fixes spelling, grammar and punctuation, and smooths wording that is clearly clumsy.
- Fix mistakes only — fixes spelling, grammar and punctuation, and nothing else.
At either level it keeps your words, tone, slang, line breaks and formatting, and never adds, removes, translates or summarises anything. A selected question comes back as the same question, fixed — it is never answered.
My writing style (optional, up to 500 characters) lets you describe how you write, for example "casual and friendly, short sentences". It is sent to the AI with each fix as style guidance.
If something goes wrong
Nothing is ever pasted on a failure. Your text stays exactly as it was and a short notification says why: nothing was selected, the AI was offline or over its daily limit, the reply did not look like a fix of your text, or your selection changed while the fix was running. Ctrl+Z in an Omniscio text box undoes a fix; in other apps the app's own Undo does.
Good to know
- Your clipboard is borrowed for a moment in other apps and always put back; Instant Fix never shows up in clipboard history.
- It follows the AI Text Correction switch in Settings → Lab: turn that off and the hotkey is released. The hotkey itself can be rebound or switched off in Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts → System-wide.
- It uses a fast, lightweight AI model (Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, via Omniscio's AI account). Each fix costs a small fraction of a cent and counts toward the same daily cap as other text correction. The Text correction model setting overrides the model.
- In rich-text apps, bold or links inside the selection become plain text; Undo restores them.
- The careful, reviewed version is the AI Text Correction Quick Launch tab (Ctrl+Alt+G), which shows the fix for you to edit and copy — see quick-launch-modal-part-2.md.
