Set Up My Daily Briefing (guided digest-enable mission)

A short guided mission that turns on Omniscio's built-in Daily Digest for a non-programmer and lets them choose the morning hour it arrives, so a once-a-day briefing of their Omniscio, email, calendar, and chat activity lands in the Briefings tab.

What it is

A short coached mission that switches on Omniscio's built-in Briefings (formerly Daily Digest) for a non-programmer and lets them pick the morning hour it lands. The result is a once-a-day briefing of their Omniscio / email / calendar / chat activity in the Briefings tab. Ships on Windows and macOS. Fully reversible.

Where to find it

Nothing here lives in Settings. This is a guided conversation you walk through from the mission picker, and every change it makes is confirmed on a card before it is applied.

From the mission picker (the Run a guided mission button). Never auto-launched. Re-running it just updates the hour.

How it behaves

The flow

  1. Kickoff card — "Want a friendly summary of your day each morning?" → Yes, set it up / Maybe later.
  2. Time card — Early bird (6 am) · Morning (8 am) · Midday (12 pm) · Pick another time.
  3. Confirm card — "Your briefing will be ready around <time> in Briefings…" → Turn it on / Tweak.
  4. Result card — confirms it's on, points to Generate now for an instant sample, offers Undo.

What it writes

Exactly two settings, applied inline (no approval popup) via the mission's in-app token: dailyDigestEnabled = true and dailyDigestScheduleHour = <chosen hour>. The 9 digest source toggles are left untouched, so unconnected sources simply contribute nothing (Gmail and Calendar ship off and are opt-in). Undo restores both prior values exactly.

For agents

How it works (for agents with repo access)

source: 'daily-briefing', injectInAppToken: true in registry.ts, so session-create-prompt-assembly.ts writes the connection file. The bundled helper (src/main/services/first-mission/daily-briefing.ts, via the CLI's daily-briefing-apply|undo subcommands) snapshots the two settings to daily-briefing-manifest.json and PATCHes them through the shared mission-settings-client.ts (the control-server seam also used by the about-me mission). Telemetry lands under the daily_briefing feature. The renderer reuses the generic confirm/choices/result cards unchanged.

Related

The feature this mission switches on — what the briefing contains, which sources feed it, and how to change it afterwards — is on the Daily Digest page. Its closest sibling is the other mission that writes your settings for you, teach Omniscio about me, which shares the same mechanism.
