Discord Import Wizard

An in-development, feature-flagged wizard that imports a Discord server's channel history into Team Chat: six steps from the bot token through channel selection and user mapping to a live import with a closing report.

What it is

Status: In-development (gated behind discord-import unreleased feature flag).

A guided, multi-step wizard that imports a Discord server's channel history into Team Chat. Users provide a Discord bot token, select which channels to import, map Discord users to Omniscio workspace members, and watch the import run with live progress.

Where to find it

Steps

  1. Welcome — overview of what happens, what the user needs (a Discord bot token with the right permissions).
  2. Bot Token — user pastes their Discord bot token; the wizard validates it and discovers available guilds (servers).
  3. Channel Selection — lists discovered channels with type/member-count info; user picks which ones to import.
  4. User Mapping — auto-matches Discord members to Omniscio workspace members; user can adjust or skip unmatched members.
  5. Import Progress — live progress bar with per-channel status as messages, pins, and reactions are imported.
  6. Report — summary of imported messages, channels, and any errors or skipped items.

How it behaves

The import reads from the source Discord server and writes into Team Chat; nothing on Discord's side is changed. Members the wizard could not match to an Omniscio teammate are skipped rather than invented, and each channel reports its own outcome, so a failure in one does not stop the others. The closing report lists what was imported and everything that was skipped or errored.

For agents

Architecture

  • Container: DiscordImportWizard.tsx owns all wizard state and computes DialogShell footer actions for each step (standard footer mechanism, never per-step).
  • Step components under discord-import/steps/ are pure presentational content.
  • All IPC calls use the DISCORD_IMPORT_* channels.
  • Push listener receives live DiscordImportProgress updates during the import step.
