Quiet items (stalled items with no due date)
Mission Control puts a small amber chip on items that have no due date and have stopped moving. The first time a kind of item goes quiet it asks once, "Is this normal for this item?", and learns from your answer. It is off until you turn it on in Settings → Lab.
What it is
- Overdue warnings need a due date, so an undated item that stops moving used to go unnoticed.
- The quiet-item flag points at those items, asks one question to learn what "normal" looks like on your board, and offers a quick next step.
- It keeps learning: every two weeks it re-checks how fast each board really moves.
- It is off by default while in development, and stays off until days the owner is out are counted.
Where to find it
- Turn it on in Settings → Lab → Mission Control Quiet Item Flag.
- The chip appears on board rows and kanban cards, next to the item's votes.
- Click the chip to open its short check-in.
- "What needs attention?" in Mission Control lists quiet items at the end of its answer.
- Settings → Mission Control → Send nudges right away changes what Nudge does.
How it behaves
What gets a chip
- Quiet N days: an item someone started (it has a status) with no movement for 2 working days.
- Not started N weeks: an item with a blank status and no movement for 5 working days.
- Only Monday to Friday count. Skipping the days an item's owner is out comes with the time-off part of the busy-season rebuild.
- Never flagged: items with a due date (they keep the overdue warning), Done items, Stuck or Blocked items, archived items and sub-items.
- Boards with no status column are skipped, because started and not-started cannot be told apart.
- "Movement" is any change a person made to the item, a change synced from the outside tool, or a posted update. Reordering rows and automations do not count.
- At most 3 chips show per kind of item at a time, quietest first.
The one question
- The first time a kind of item goes quiet, its chip asks: "Is this normal for this item?" with Yes, that's normal and No. Inside the question, press Y or N.
- A "kind of item" is the group it sits in on its board, kept separate for started and not-started items.
- An item is asked at most once, ever. Once a kind of item has an answer, nobody is asked about that kind again.
- A question left unanswered for 14 days stops the asking for that kind of item, which then runs on the board's pace alone.
What the answers do
- Yes: that kind of item now waits twice as long (twice the quiet days at the time of the answer) before it flags.
- No: the limit stays, and the chip offers Nudge <owner>?, Mark it Stuck? or Not now.
- Nudge opens the item's updates with a ready-to-send check-in to the owner that you edit and send. With Send nudges right away on, it posts in one click instead.
- Mark it Stuck sets the item to the board's Stuck (or Blocked) status.
- Not now hides the chip until the item moves again.
- When people answer Yes for one status (say "Waiting on IT") in two or more groups, and nobody has answered No for it, that status counts as normal waiting and never flags.
Keeps learning
- Every 14 days each board re-measures its pace from its own history: the typical number of working days between moves.
- The limit for started items becomes that typical gap, never below 2 working days and never above 10.
- A board with too little history stays at 2. With no answers at all, the flag runs on pace alone.
Privacy
- Everything learned is stored on this computer under each board, and belongs to your Omniscio sign-in, never to a Claude login.
- The only thing shared with the Omniscio team is anonymous counts (chips opened, questions asked, yes, no, nudges, marked stuck, hidden). Never item names, board names, people or content.
For agents
- The release switch is the setting
pmQuietItemFlagEnabled(unreleased featurepm-quiet-item-flag);pmQuietNudgeSendRightAwaycontrols Nudge. - The rules live in
src/main/services/pm/quiet/quiet-rules.ts(limits, one-ask, Yes/No learning, waiting statuses) and the data access inquiet-store.tsbeside it; the learning is derived from thepm_quiet_item_asksask log pluspm_quiet_board_pace. GET /pm/boards/:boardId/quiet-itemslists a board's flagged items.POST /pm/items/:itemId/quiet/answerwith{ "answer": "yes" | "no" }answers.POST /pm/items/:itemId/quiet/askedrecords that the question was shown, andPOST /pm/items/:itemId/quiet/hidehides the chip until the item moves.- All four routes answer 404 while the feature is off and need board access; answers and hides need edit access.
