PM Watch (follow an item, group or board)
Mission Control lets you follow a board, a group, or one item. Turn watching on and the activity on that thing is gathered for you as watch notifications, which you read and clear from the Notifications page's Watching tab.
What it is
Mission Control is Omniscio's built-in project-management system. PM Watch is the part of it that lets you follow something rather than reopen it: you can watch a board, a group of items, or a single item, and changes to what you watch are collected as watch notifications for you to read later.
Watch records are kept for a board, a group, an item, a goal, a sprint, and a portfolio — the whole set the notification writer resolves against when a change happens. The toggle a reader clicks is offered on the three most common of those: the board, the group, and the item.
PM Watch is not the same thing as a board's own notification preferences. A watch says "I want to hear about this one thing"; the per-board preferences (mute, promote, email, digest) say how loudly the board talks. A board you have muted still keeps your watch notifications for it quiet.
Where to find it
The watch toggle sits in three places, wherever the thing you want to follow already is:
- Board header — the eye button. It reads "Watch this project", and once you are watching it reads "Stop watching this project" and lights up in the accent colour.
- Group menu — the group's ··· menu offers a "Watch this …" entry, which becomes "Stop watching …" while you are watching that group.
- Item card — the item card header carries "Watch this item" / "Stop watching".
The notifications your watches produce are not shown on the board at all. They live in the Notifications page, on its Watching tab, beside the All / Unread / I was mentioned / Assigned to me tabs.
How it behaves
- A watch is per person and per thing. The toggle is stored against your account for that one board, group, or item, so watching an item does not begin watching the rest of its board.
- A change to what you watch becomes a notification. When something you follow changes, the watchers of that item, group, or board are resolved and a notification is recorded for each of them.
- A muted board stays quiet. If you have muted that board in its notification preferences, your watch notifications for it are suppressed.
- Reading them. On the Notifications page's Watching tab you mark one notification read as you go, or clear them all at once; the tab tells you when something is still unread.
- It needs Mission Control. Watching is part of the Mission Control board app, so it appears only where Mission Control is turned on.
