Communication group (sidebar)
The Communication group in the Omniscio projects sidebar — the collapsible row that nests the messaging and meeting tools (Team Chat, Email Cleanup, Email Summarizer, Drip, Meetings, Screenshots, Screen Recording, Voice History, Voiceprint Studio), and how to expand it, open a member from it, and move a member in or out.
What it is
The Communication group is a collapsible row in the Omniscio projects sidebar that nests the tools that send, receive, or manage messages and meetings. It ships collapsed by default — click its chevron to expand.
Its job is to keep the sidebar short. Every tool inside it is a full feature in its own right, with its own panel; the group is only a nesting row that holds them together, so that the tools you reach for when you are dealing with people take up one line instead of nine.
What's inside
- Team Chat — team messaging.
- Email Cleanup — triage and tidy your inbox.
- Email Summarizer — summarize long email threads.
- Drip — scheduled outbound message sequences.
- Meetings — meeting notes and transcripts.
- Screenshots — snip and annotate screenshots.
- Screen Recording — screen recordings with captions.
- Voice History — your dictation history.
- Voiceprint Studio — voice profile management.
Where to find it
The Communication row sits in the left projects sidebar, in the same column as your projects and your other category groups — it is a sidebar row, not a panel of its own, so nothing has to be open for it to be there. Because it ships collapsed, what you see at first is a single line with a chevron, not the nine tools inside it.
How it behaves
- Click the chevron on the left of the row to expand/collapse. The choice persists across launches.
- Click the group row itself (not the chevron) to open a small roll-up panel that lists the members; each one is a shortcut to open it directly.
- To move a member out of the group for solo sidebar use, drag it to a new position or right-click and choose Remove from Category. Right-click the solo item and choose Return to [group name] to put it back.
The nesting is a display arrangement, not a folder: nothing is copied or moved when a tool lives under the group, and pulling a tool out with Remove from Category changes where it is drawn in the sidebar and nothing about the tool itself.
For agents
communication entry in integration-registry.ts; its children carry parentGroupId: 'communication'. Render nesting is driven by SIDEBAR_PARENT_GROUPS + consolidateChildrenUnderParent in ProjectsSidebar.tsx — render-only, no DB re-parent. Collapse state: communicationCollapsed (default true). See the sidebar category grouping contract.

The Creative group is the other built-in category row in the same sidebar, and it works the same way. If what you are looking for is how the sidebar as a whole is arranged — status sections, projects, and these groups together — start from the projects sidebar. Team messaging itself, one level in from this row, is on the Team Chat page.
