Widget Library
The Widget Library is one Settings page that lists every widget in Omniscio, grouped by where it lives. Covers adding and removing top bar widgets, adding Control Center widgets, opening a widget's home, searching, and asking an AI session to build your own widget and loading it.
What it is
Omniscio has widgets in several places: the top bar, the AI Project Manager Control Center, Mission Control dashboards, PM Ops and the Arij dashboard. Until now each place had its own private list. The Widget Library puts them all on one page so you can see what exists, read a one-line description of each, and put the useful ones where they belong.
The page builds itself every time you open it, from each area's own list of widgets. Nobody types the list by hand, so a widget that exists in the app cannot be missing from it. Each area keeps drawing its own widgets exactly as before; the library is a catalog and a launcher, not a new kind of widget.
It is not a download store. Plugins already have the Marketplace. The library shows the widgets that your installed plugins and scripts contribute, but it does not install anything for you. The question cards agents show inside a conversation, sticky notes and the help-desk chat bubble are not placeable widgets and are not listed.
Where to find it
- Settings, Widget Library. It sits in the Settings menu right below Widgets.
- The Browse all widgets button at the top of Settings, Widgets.
- The More menu in the top bar has a Widget Library item. You can pin it to the top bar like any other item.
- The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Shift+G. You can change it in Settings, Keybindings (it is called Open Widget Library).
- Settings search. Typing "widget library", "make your own widget" or "browse widgets" finds the page.
The Widget Library is a desktop screen only. It does not appear on a paired phone.
How it behaves
The groups
The page lists widgets under these headings, always in this order:
- Top bar - the built-in top bar widgets (account, Hardcore, CPU burst, help desk, usage, credits and the others), widgets that installed plugins contribute, and widgets that your own scripts put in the top bar.
- Control Center (AI Project Manager) - the cards you can place on your Control Center board.
- Mission Control - the dashboard widgets (charts, numbers, tables, burndown and so on), plus the Active Goals card on the Mission Control home page.
- PM Ops - the cards on the Operations screen.
- Arij dashboard - the cards on the Arij dashboard.
- Your widgets - widgets you made, covered below.
A group with nothing to show is left out. Each row shows an icon, the name, a one-line description, where it comes from (Built in, Plugin, Script or Yours) and its state in plain words.
The state tells you what is happening right now:
- On the top bar / Not on the top bar for top bar widgets.
- Shows while the plugin is running for a plugin widget that is switched on but has not drawn anything yet. A plugin widget only appears in the top bar once its plugin pushes a reading, so this is the honest answer rather than a promise it is already there.
- On your Control Center / Not on your Control Center for Control Center cards.
- Always shown for PM Ops, Arij and Mission Control entries; those screens have fixed layouts or belong to one dashboard at a time.
- Unavailable, with a line saying why: the plugin is turned off, the plugin does not work with this version of Omniscio, or the whole area is switched off (for example Arij) with a pointer to where to turn it on.
Mission Control's list is loaded when you open the page, so its group may show "Loading these widgets..." for a moment. If loading fails you get a Try again button.
Add and Remove (top bar)
On a top bar widget, Add puts it on the top bar and Remove takes it off. This writes exactly the same settings as Settings, Widgets, so both screens always agree. Remove is never permanent: you can add it back at any time.
Script widgets and plugin widgets are listed too. If the Header Widgets switch is off in Settings, Lab (see header-widgets.md), only the built-in widgets are listed.
Add to Control Center
A Control Center card has an Add to <Control Center name> button. It names the board it will use, which is your currently active Control Center. Pressing it:
- switches the AI Project Manager to the board view (even if you were looking at a session there),
- adds the card at its default size, and
- opens the AI Project Manager so you see it land.
The add goes through the Control Center's own add path, so the usual limit on how many cards a board can hold still applies. If you have no Control Center yet, the button is not shown and Open is all you get.
Open
Every row has an Open button that takes you to the screen where the widget lives: Settings, Widgets for a built-in top bar widget; Settings, Plugins for a plugin widget; the AI Project Manager for Control Center and PM Ops cards; Mission Control; or the Arij dashboard. For Mission Control, Open goes to Mission Control itself so you can add the widget to the dashboard you want. The library deliberately offers Add only where there is exactly one obvious destination, and never guesses which dashboard or project you meant.
Search
The search box at the top filters as you type, matching names and descriptions across every group. It also searches Your widgets, by name, folder name and description. Press Escape to clear it. If nothing matches you see "No widgets match" with a Clear search button.
Make your own widget with AI
The Make your own widget with AI button opens the normal Start session dialog with a ready-made prompt. You replace the bracketed line with a sentence or two describing the widget, pick the project, and press Start.
- It costs money. Pressing Start begins one real AI session, billed like any other session. The button's tooltip says so.
- Nothing starts until you press Start. The library itself never starts a session. Close the dialog and nothing has happened.
- The session builds a small widget-only plugin in a new sub-folder of your Omniscio Widgets folder (in your home folder) and ends by telling you to press Load next to it.
Your widgets
The Your widgets group shows what is in the Omniscio Widgets folder, with the folder path and an Open folder button. Up to 50 folders are listed; if you have more, a line tells you how many are hidden.
Each folder is one of three things:
- Load - it is a valid widget-only plugin that is ready to load. Press Load.
- Loaded - it is already running.
- Refused - it cannot be loaded, with a plain reason (and a pointer to Developer Mode if you trust it and want to load it yourself).
Load and Developer Mode. Widgets you make run as developer plugins, so loading one uses Developer Mode. If Developer Mode is off, pressing Load shows the usual trust warning ("Only load folders whose code you trust") with a Turn on and load button; your click on it is the permission. Pressing Load twice quickly is safe: the second press is ignored while the first is working.
The "other folder plugins" refusal. Turning Developer Mode on also starts any plugins you previously registered from folders elsewhere on your computer. So if you have other developer plugin folders registered, the library will not turn Developer Mode on for you; it tells you to turn it on yourself in Settings, Plugins, Developer Mode, and then press Load.
What counts as widget-only. A folder is loaded from here only if its manifest is valid and it asks for nothing but widget powers: no background code, no program to run, no command-line endpoints, no tools for AI sessions, and only these permissions: chrome, chrome.widget, storage, network and notifications. The library checks the exact manifest it showed you, and if the file changes between the check and the load, the load is refused and unloaded. A plugin with a clashing id (another installed plugin already uses it) is refused too.
Refused drafts and Rebuild. For a refused folder the row shows the reason and a Rebuild as widget-only button. It opens the Start session dialog with a prompt that asks an AI session to rebuild the same widget, safely, in a new sub-folder and leave the original alone. As always, nothing starts until you press Start.
Your widgets keep running. A widget-only plugin loaded from your Omniscio Widgets folder has its page kept running hidden in the background, so its top bar widget stays live after an app restart without you opening its panel. Up to three such widgets run this way; the prompt the AI session gets tells it to push a reading when the page loads and then again at least every minute. Background running needs both the Widget Library and Header Widgets switches on.
Turning it off
The Widget Library has its own switch: Settings, Lab, Widget Library. It is on by default. Switching it off hides the page, its row in the Settings menu, its Settings search result, the Browse all widgets button, the More-menu item, the keyboard shortcut and the background running of your widgets. Nothing is deleted: the widgets in your folder and any plugins you loaded stay as they are.
