Keyboard shortcuts (every binding, and how to change them) (part 3)
Part 3 of the keyboard shortcuts reference: moving around the app, searching, changing what is displayed, and the bindings that only apply inside a particular project — Gmail, the diff review view, and the daily digest.
What it is
This is part 3 of the Keyboard shortcuts page. It covers getting around Omniscio — navigation, search, and what is shown on screen — plus the bindings that only apply while a particular kind of project is active, such as a mail channel, a change review, or the daily digest.
Where to find it
Same list, same place: Settings → Keyboard shortcuts, where every binding here can be rebound. This part is the reference copy.
How it behaves
Common shortcuts
These are the defaults — rebind any of them in Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts.
Navigation
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| J / K | Next / previous session in the sidebar |
| Tab / Shift+Tab | Same |
| Shift+J / Shift+K | Extend sidebar selection one item (multi-select) |
| Ctrl+ArrowDown / Ctrl+ArrowUp | Next / previous project. Inside Tasks these navigate between the tasks-v2 projects instead — All Projects hops between project headers (in place); a single-project view switches the shown project. |
| Shift+ArrowDown / Shift+ArrowUp | Next / previous chat message (scroll the transcript). When you're at the bottom of a long message whose top has scrolled off-screen, Shift+ArrowUp first jumps to the TOP of that message, then to the previous message on the next press — so you never skip the start of what you're reading. |
| Shift+W / Shift+D | Previous / next chat message — letter-key twins of Shift+↑ / Shift+↓, shipped by default so you can step the thread without leaving the letter keys (no need for the opt-in one-handed layout). Like the Arrow versions they fire only when the composer isn't focused; while you're typing they just enter the capital letter. |
| Ctrl+Home / Ctrl+End | Jump to the top / bottom of the current page — the conversation thread, or any other scrollable view (Quick Replies, Skills, Settings, and every other page). If your mouse is resting on the hub list or the session list and you moved it within the last second, the jump scrolls THAT list instead — point at a sidebar and Ctrl+End takes you to the end of it, leaving the thread where it was. Park the mouse there and leave it alone and the keys go back to scrolling the page, so a forgotten cursor never hijacks them. Only fires when a text box isn't focused, so Ctrl+Home/End keep their normal cursor-move behaviour while you type |
| ↑ / ↓, Page Up / Page Down | Scroll the current page — a line at a time with the arrows, a full screen with Page Up / Page Down — on any scrollable view (Settings and every other page), when a text box isn't focused. It stands aside for dropdowns, menus, sliders, and other controls that use the arrow keys themselves, and for any modifier combo (so Ctrl+Home/End, Ctrl+Arrow, and Shift+Arrow keep their jobs). |
| A | Jump to the first session needing attention |
| Shift+F | Toggle the session-list filter (collapses the regular session list to Needs-You / pinned / snoozed). Listed as Focus mode (session list) — NOT the batch-alerts Focus Mode, which is a separate feature toggled from the toolbar bell pill. It was a bare F until 2026-09-28; bare F no longer does it. The filter has no on-screen control, so the key confirms itself with a toast naming the new state (without it, a project with nothing to hide made the key look dead). See the legacy-F-key section in focus-mode.md |
| I or Ctrl+Q | Go to Inbox |
| Alt+Q | Bounce between where you are now and where you were just before — press it again and again to keep flipping between the two. It works wherever the two places are: two projects, the same project, two rows inside the Inbox, or a full-screen view such as the Mind Map, Writer or MemPalace — pressing it there returns you to the session you came from, and pressing it again reopens the view. It also works while a dialog is open and from inside a panel that owns the keyboard, exactly like Ctrl+Q. With no history yet (right after launch) the first press goes to the Inbox. Listed in Settings under its older name, "Toggle previous hub" |
| Ctrl+1 | Jump to inbox |
| Ctrl+2 through Ctrl+9, Ctrl+0 | Jump to hub slot 2–10 visible in the sidebar — the slots count the rows you can actually see, so a name search, the "show only active" filter or a collapsed group changes which hub a slot opens |
| ! / @ / # | Jump to session 1 / 2 / 3 in the current list |
| Alt+4 through Alt+9, Alt+0 | Jump to session 4–10 |
Search and overlay
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+K or / | Open Search across all conversations (Ctrl+K works while typing; / only when not typing) |
| Ctrl+Shift+Z | Open the Zoom Quick Launch palette — type to filter, Enter to launch (requires feature toggle) |
| ? | Show / hide the keyboard shortcut overlay |
| Esc | Close any open overlay, modal, or selection |
| Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab | Inside a tabbed pop-up dialog (Add Doc, Export → Add Items, Codebase Stats, Quick Reply editor) or the Settings screen, move to the next / previous tab — or Settings section — wrapping around |
Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab step through the tabs of a tabbed pop-up dialog — and through the Settings sections — wrapping around, and they work from anywhere inside the surface (not just when the tab row is highlighted). Like the find-in-page bar below, it's built in (not a rebindable keybinding); on the Settings screen it steps aside while a dialog is open on top of it. Number keys aren't used for this — Ctrl+1 is reserved for jumping to a project.
Within Settings, Ctrl+F opens a browser-style find-in-page bar that highlights matching text on the current page — Enter / Shift+Enter step through matches and Esc closes it. Like the session-chat and KMS find bars it's built in (not a rebindable keybinding), and it's separate from the "Search settings…" box: find-in-page highlights what's on screen, while the search box jumps to any setting across every section — including ones not currently rendered. Use the search box to reach a setting, Ctrl+F to spot a word on the page in front of you.
Display
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+= | Increase the application text size one step (Extra Small → Small → … → XXX-Large). Same setting as Settings → Appearance → Font Size, and clamps at the largest size |
| Ctrl+- | Decrease the application text size one step; clamps at the smallest size |
| Ctrl+MouseWheel | Hold Ctrl and scroll the wheel to step the text size — up = larger, down = smaller, one step per notch. The same action as Ctrl+= / Ctrl+- (main window; replaces the browser engine's native page-zoom) |
These work everywhere — even while you're typing in the composer — and the whole UI resizes instantly (there's no toast; the resize itself is the feedback), stopping silently once you reach the smallest / largest size. The setting is shared with Settings → Appearance → Font Size, so the segmented control there moves in lockstep. Although the binding is written Ctrl+= (the unshifted = key), the natural "Ctrl and the + key" press works too (on US/UK layouts that's physically Ctrl+Shift+=), and the numpad + / - keys are also accepted. Ctrl+MouseWheel does the same stepping (main window), and yields to any surface with its own Ctrl+scroll zoom — an image preview or the screen-recorder editor.
