The sidebar (hubs and sessions)
The left rail lists your projects and, beside each one, the sessions running in that project. A project reads as a thin vertical bar and each session as a small coloured dot, so you can see at a glance which project is busy and which one is waiting on you.
What it is
The sidebar is the column down the left of the window, and it is where you navigate Omniscio. It holds:
- Projects as vertical bars, sessions as dots. Each project is drawn as a thin accent bar — a hub, the same shape the app uses for its built-in areas such as Recipes or Tools. Its live sessions sit next to it as small dots, one per session.
- Status-coloured indicators. Both the project bar and each session dot carry a colour for the session's state — running, waiting, an error, or needing you — so a glance down the rail tells you where to look.
- A pinned section. Projects you pin sit above the scrollable list instead of moving with it, so your current work is always in the same place.
- A per-project attention count. A project with sessions that need you shows a small badge with how many, so you can triage from the rail without opening anything.
- A project menu. Right-clicking a project opens its menu: edit, notes, files, appearance, pin, recipes, and the delete and permanent-erase actions.
- File actions. From the project's Files menu you can show the folder in your file manager, copy its path, or open the project's own documentation.
- Open in a new window. A project can be popped out into its own window, leaving the main window free for something else.
- Groups and dividers. Projects can be gathered under named dividers you create, each of which collapses and expands and remembers its state.
Where to find it
It is the leftmost column of the main window — there is nothing to open. On a phone or a narrow window it becomes the Projects tab of the bottom bar, with a touch-sized list instead of the rail.
How it behaves
- Clicking a project opens its sessions; clicking a session opens that session. The rail follows you: the project you are in shows as selected.
- J and K step through your sessions without touching the mouse — J moves to the next session, K back to the previous one.
- It collapses to icons. The rail can be collapsed so only the project icons remain, giving the chat more room, and a thin gutter at the edge brings it back. The width you had is restored when it expands.
- Pinned means pinned. A pinned project stays above the scrolling list until you unpin it; pinning does not change the project in any other way.
- Paths always refer to real folders. Copy path and Show in Explorer act on the folder the project was registered from, so a project whose folder has been moved or renamed reports that rather than silently pointing at the wrong place.
