Keyboard shortcuts (every binding, and how to change them) (part 2)

Part 2 of the keyboard shortcuts reference: the bindings that drive sessions and the message box, and the ones for quick replies and the AI helpers. Continues from the overview page, and the navigation, search and display bindings follow in part 3.

What it is

This is part 2 of the Keyboard shortcuts page. It covers the shortcuts you use while working in a session — starting, stopping and steering one, driving the message box — and the quick-response and AI bindings that sit beside them.

Where to find it

Same list, same place: Settings → Keyboard shortcuts, where every binding here can be rebound. This part is the reference copy.

How it behaves

Common shortcuts

These are the defaults — rebind any of them in Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts.

Sessions and composer

Shortcut Action
N or Ctrl+T Launch a new session in the current project. Exception: while the Quick Scratch Pad overlay (Ctrl+Shift+S) is open, Ctrl+T instead saves the current note and resets the editor to a blank fresh draft — the overlay stays open and the global new-session is suppressed
Ctrl+Space (global; ⌘⌥L on macOS) Open the Quick Launch floating composer — type a prompt and submit to start a new session. Works even when Omniscio is in the background. macOS ships Cmd+Option+L by default (Cmd+Space is Spotlight)
Ctrl+Shift+Space (global) Open Quick Launch on the KMS Find Note tab — fuzzy-jump to any KMS note by title. Works even when Omniscio is in the background; only registers when KMS is enabled. Rebindable as the "KMS quick find" System-wide hotkey
Alt+Space (global) Open Quick Launch on the Task tab — jot down a to-do without leaving what you're doing. Works even when Omniscio is in the background. Rebindable as the Task tab's System-wide hotkey. (Windows uses Alt+Space for the window system-menu and PowerToys Run uses it too — whichever registers first wins.)
Alt+E (global) Open Quick Launch on the Email tab — fire off a quick note to a saved recipient without leaving what you're doing. Works even when Omniscio is in the background; only registers when Quick Email is enabled. Rebindable as the Email tab's System-wide hotkey.
Ctrl+Alt+M (global) Open Supermail in its own separate window (the pop-out) from anywhere — even when Omniscio is in the background. Only registers when Supermail is enabled. Rebindable as the "Supermail window" System-wide hotkey.
Ctrl+Shift+S (global) Raise Omniscio and open the rich Quick scratchpad overlay (note list, pop-out, settings) from anywhere — even when Omniscio is in the background. This is the single scratchpad hotkey; the stripped-down floating-capture box that used to be on this key was removed.
Enter Send the current draft (default Submit key)
Shift+Enter Insert a newline instead of sending
Ctrl+Enter Send (only if you set Submit key to "Ctrl+Enter" in Settings → Sessions)
Esc Interrupt a running session with a safety double-tap — the first Esc shows a "Press Esc again to interrupt" hint, and a second Esc within ~1.5s actually stops it, so a single stray (or held) press can never kill a run. Esc clears anything else open first: it closes an open menu (only the menu — the session stays open), leaves a focused text box, closes an open file preview, then deselects a non-running session — interrupt is the last rung, so it never steals Esc from those
Ctrl+W or E Archive the active session (closePanel action — labeled "Archive session"). When an inbox item is open instead of a session, the same key dismisses that item — an approval, or an in-pane detail pane (a held Sentry issue, a fired alarm, a PR / Jira / Linear / Granola / Notion / RSS / Telegram row) — the keyboard equivalent of that row's X / middle-click. And when the AutoHotKey editor is the open surface (the AHK project with a .ahk file selected, or no session yet), the same key closes the editor and returns you to the main inbox. And when a modal or slide-out panel is open — an open dialog (the search box, a confirm / editor / settings dialog, the command palette, an image preview, a setup wizard), the file / Markdown editor preview, or a side drawer (a meeting / integration detail) — Ctrl+W (like Esc) closes THAT instead of archiving the session behind it. In a popped-out session window (Pop Out) Ctrl+W is different again: it opens a close-confirm modal — Close window (keep the session running) / Close & stop session / Cancel — rather than archiving; see detached-session-window.md
P Pause / unpause the active session — on an archived session, deposits it into paused (un-archive + pause atomically; bulk mixed selections handle archived + active arms in parallel)
H Snooze the active session — opens the Snooze Palette; on an archived session, un-archives into ended first so the snooze flow can stamp snoozedUntil. When an inbox item is open instead of a session, the same key opens the Snooze Palette for that open row — an approval, or an in-pane detail (a held Sentry issue / fired alarm / PR / Jira / Linear / Granola / Notion / RSS / Telegram / SMS / drip) — the keyboard equivalent of right-click → "Snooze…"
C Continue / Check in the active session — continues a stalled / ended / errored session, continues a session parked on a login-expired "re-authenticate" screen or on a usage-limit ("rate limit") screen, or checks in on a session waiting on its 30-min auto-wait timeout (whichever banner is showing). Mirrors the composer Continue / Check in button exactly; sends nothing when neither banner is showing. Like every single-key shortcut it fires only when the message box is not focused — so a paused / stalled / errored / ended (or re-authenticate- / rate-limit-parked) session lands your cursor on the conversation and C continues on entry; click the box (or press R) to type, after which C types a literal c
W Keep waiting — re-arm a silent wait on a session that hit its auto-wait timeout (the "Keep waiting N min" button; N is the keepWaitingMinutes setting, default 60), without messaging the agent; no-op otherwise. Like C, it fires only when the message box is not focused; inside the box it types a literal w
Y or Enter Allow the tool-permission request showing above the composer ("Claude wants to run…" / "…access a sensitive file"). Mirrors the card's Allow button exactly, and both keys run the same handler behind the same single in-flight latch, so a keypress racing a click can never answer twice. Silent no-op when no card is showing. Enter stands down whenever a button or link already has focus — so Tab-ing to Deny and pressing Enter denies — and inside the message box Enter still sends your message. One caveat to this table's "rebind any of them": Y is rebindable, Enter is not — it is fixed and never appears in Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts, because a rebindable Enter would swallow Enter app-wide on every focused button and link. It is listed instead in the keyboard overlay (the ? shortcut list) under Session
X Deny that same request — mirrors the card's Deny button; silent no-op when no card is showing. Inside the message box it types a literal x
T Tag the active session — opens the Tag picker palette
R Focus the composer textarea so you can type a reply
Q Focus the Question Widget (if one is showing)
Ctrl+E Toggle the File Explorer panel for the active session — silent no-op when no session is selected (Inbox / Settings views)
V Toggle Plain Speak ⇄ Original on the latest agent message that has a Plain Speak rewrite — silent no-op when no eligible message exists; doesn't fire while typing in the composer (or any input / textarea / contenteditable)
Ctrl+Shift+Q Open the first link in the agent's most recent reply, in the active reading pane (drip / alert / digest / weekly summary / scheduled message), on the task row you're focused on in Tasks, or the first web link in the Supermail email you're reading — same routing as a real click. Hovering that first link reveals this shortcut as a tooltip (except inside a Supermail email, whose body renders in a sandboxed frame)
Ctrl+Z Undo your last session action (archive, pause, snooze, move, rename, close). Reverses it even with the cursor in any text field that holds a draft — until you start typing, after which Ctrl+Z undoes your text instead (never your draft). Press repeatedly to walk back through recent actions. (Bare Z is no longer bound — it used to undo from outside a text box, but a stray "z" could revert silently; rebind it in Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts if you want it back.)
Ctrl+Y Redo your typing — puts back text you just removed with Ctrl+Z, in the message box or any text field (Ctrl+Shift+Z does the same).

Quick-response and AI

Shortcut Action
Alt+1 / Alt+2 / Alt+3 Send the 1st / 2nd / 3rd AI suggestion
Alt+S Open the snippet (quick reply) picker
1–9 (picker open) Fire the quick reply showing that number badge — honors its auto-submit setting. Positional by default; pin a fixed number per reply in its editor. Fires only when the picker's search box is empty. Toggle: Settings → Quick Replies → Number-key quick send
Alt+Z Send the configured Zap quick-reply text — rebind via Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts → Session → "Send quick reply" (the duplicate per-snippet input previously under Settings → Snippets was consolidated into the main Keyboard Shortcuts panel)
Ctrl+U Open the file attachment picker
Ctrl+Shift+L Send Later — schedule the current draft for future delivery (a session composer key; the Quick Launch → Task tab uses the SAME chord for its Send Later picker, which files the task snoozed — consistent, and conflict-free since the Task tab is its own window)
Ctrl+Shift+P Open the Command Palette (Quick Launch) — one searchable box to find and run any main app action; with the universal command palette enabled it also reaches every navigation hub and setting
Ctrl+Shift+K Open the Super Prompts picker (moved here from Ctrl+Shift+P when the Command Palette took that chord — rebind either under Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts)
Alt+V Start a voice command (push-to-talk)
