System group (sidebar)

The System group is the collapsible sidebar row that gathers Omniscio's own app-level surfaces — settings, search, tags, alerts, marketplaces, briefings, stats and shares — into one place. This page covers what sits inside it, how to expand, use and reorder it, and what an agent needs to know about its stable internal id.

What it is

The System group is a collapsible row in the Omniscio projects sidebar that nests app-level settings, search, and management into one place. It ships collapsed by default — click its chevron to expand.

The display name is System. For byte-stability the group keeps its original persisted id insights-group (sentinel __insights_group__, collapse setting insightsGroupCollapsed) — a display-only rename, the same pattern as the KMS/Nothari rename. It briefly also kept the legacy "Insights" A-Z sort slot, which left a row labelled "System" sitting between Inbox Pilot and Jira; that pin was removed on 2026-08-25, so it now sorts under its own name — between Supermail and Tags, which makes it the LAST of the sidebar parent groups.

Where to find it

In the projects sidebar, among the other parent groups. It ships collapsed, so look for the row labelled System with a chevron at its left; on a default install it sorts near the bottom of the group list, after Supermail and before Tags.

How it behaves

What's inside

  • Session Search — search across all your sessions.
  • Settings — the full settings surface.
  • Tags — manage session tags.
  • Alerts — the agent alerts inbox surface.
  • Marketplace — browse and install plugins.
  • Marketplace Review — the plugin review queue.
  • Briefings — your daily digest and weekly review in one place.
  • Onboarding Hub — home for the agents from your guided first-run tour.
  • Stats — cost, tokens, time, and per-project usage trends.
  • Shares — every shared link and published artifact.

How to use it

  • Click the chevron on the left of the row to expand/collapse. The choice persists across launches.
  • Click the group row itself (not the chevron) to open a small roll-up panel that lists the members; each one is a shortcut to open it directly.
  • To move a member out of the group for solo sidebar use, drag it to a new position or right-click and choose Remove from Category. Right-click the solo item and choose Return to [group name] to put it back.

For agents

insights-group entry in integration-registry.ts (displayName System); most of its children carry parentGroupId: 'insights-group'. Daily Digest and Onboarding Hub cannot — Daily Digest is a channel-adapter (forbidden a virtualProjectPath, since its row is lazy-created behind dailyDigestEnabled) and Onboarding Hub has no manifest — so they declare membership in the render-time SIDEBAR_ROW_PARENT_GROUP map in sidebar-render-items.ts instead (2026-08-31). Render nesting is driven by SIDEBAR_PARENT_GROUPS + consolidateChildrenUnderParent in ProjectsSidebar.tsx — render-only, no DB re-parent. Collapse state: insightsGroupCollapsed (default true). A one-time migration renames the existing seeded row from "Insights" to "System"; a second (20260825034035) moves that row out of the legacy "Insights" slot into its real A-Z position on installs that already exist. See the sidebar category grouping contract.

Related

The surfaces inside the group each have their own page — Stats, Shares and Alerts among them. The sessions list the sidebar is built around is on the Projects sidebar page.
