Workspace members (roster, seats, invitations and roles)
A workspace holds your people. This page covers seeing who is in it, how many seats you are paying for, who has not accepted an invitation yet and which guests are attached — plus inviting, removing, changing a role and handing over ownership. Nothing about membership changes without the person clicking yes.
What it is
The roster is the list of people who belong to the workspace that is active right now: their name, avatar, role, whether they have joined yet, and when they joined. Removed people are never listed.
Two counts sit beside the roster. The seat count is what Billing reads: people who have actually joined, excluding guests and pending invitations. Invitations are the addresses that have been asked but have not accepted yet; guests are people who were let into specific channels rather than the workspace.
Where to find it
There is no separate Members screen: the roster appears where people appear — the workspace switcher and the member directory in Team Chat show who is in the workspace.
How it behaves
- Removed people leave the roster immediately and are never listed again, so a stale name cannot keep reading as a member.
- Seats count joined people only. Guests and pending invitations are excluded, so the number Billing reads is the number of people actually using a seat.
- Invitations expire. A pending invitation carries the address, when it was sent and when it lapses; it can be re-sent or withdrawn.
- Guests are scoped to channels. A guest carries the channels they were let into, so a guest is visible as a guest rather than as a member.
- Every change is approval-gated, always. Inviting, removing, changing a role, handing over ownership and leaving a workspace all wait for the person to approve them. Asking is open; deciding is not.
- You only ever see workspaces you belong to. If you have not opened a workspace, the answer is that you are not a member — never somebody else's roster.
