Slack Bot channel (talk to your agents from Slack)
Connect Slack once and approve yourself, then message the bot. A direct message, an @mention in a channel, or a plain reply in a thread the bot started all reach one agent session, and the agent's answer lands in that same conversation.
What it is
The Slack Bot channel is the Slack twin of the Telegram Bot channel: a bot you talk to, backed by a real Omniscio agent session. It is separate from the Slack inbox — the inbox reads the channels you sync, while the bot channel only ever sees what is addressed to it.
Where to find it
Settings → Channels → Slack Bot.
How to set it up
- Connect Slack first, above. The bot uses that same connection — there is one Slack connection per app, not two.
- If your Slack app was created before October 2026, reconnect it once. Slack only lets someone message an app whose manifest allows it, and the earlier manifest did not.
- Turn on Slack Bot.
- Add your Slack member id to "Who may talk to it". An empty list admits nobody — this is
deliberate, and it is what stops a teammate driving your agents.
- To find your id: Slack → your profile → More → Copy member ID. It starts with
U. - If you forget this step, message the bot anyway: it replies with your id and waits.

How it behaves
- One conversation, one session. Each direct message thread is its own conversation; in a channel, each thread the bot is mentioned in is its own conversation. A second thread never inherits the first one's session.
- Following up. Reply in the same thread — you do not need to mention the bot again — and the message reaches the session that is already running.
newstarts a fresh session for that conversation.statustells you which session the conversation is attached to. Both are plain words: Slack intercepts anything starting with/as a slash command and never sends it, so/newwould do nothing.- Answers come back where you asked. In a channel the answer is a thread reply; in a DM it is a message in that DM.
- Waiting on you. When an agent stops for an approval that only the desktop can give, the bot says so once in the conversation instead of going quiet.
Limits
- Cooldown: a new session cannot be started for the same conversation more than once every 15 seconds; a follow-up message during that window is queued, not lost.
- Daily cap: at most 50 new sessions per local day. Follow-ups to existing sessions are not counted.
- Text only. A message with a file attached is not routed in this version.
- No typing indicator. Slack gives a bot no typing primitive, so the first reply simply takes as long as the work takes.
Things to know
- Turning the bot off stops new sessions and stops relaying answers; sessions already running keep running.
- Bot answers do not appear in the Slack inbox, and lane traffic never reaches your automations.
- The bot never answers itself, so a reply cannot start another session.
