Your other computers (one hub across your own desktops)
Every computer signed into your Omniscio account and your Tailscale account links to your other desktops on its own. Their open sessions appear under Your other computers, and the Run chip on a new session offers each computer beside Local and Cloud. The session runs on that computer; you drive it from here.
What it is
A way to use all of your own desktops as one hub. Nothing to set up and no codes to type: as long as two computers are on your Tailscale network, signed in as you, and signed into the same Omniscio account, each one lets the other in.
Where to find it
- Their sessions — in the sidebar under Your other computers, mixed into your inbox like any other session.
- Starting one there — the Run chip on a new session lists each linked computer beside Local and Cloud.
- The switch and the list of computers — Settings → Remote Access, in the Link my computers card, which also lists each computer and whether it is linked.
How it behaves
- Who gets in. A computer admits a link only from one of your own desktop computers, arriving through its private Tailscale address, signed in as your Tailscale account, and carrying a current sign-in to your Omniscio account. Phones, tablets, tagged or shared devices, other people and public Funnel links are refused.
- What a link can do. List, start, reply to, approve, archive and stop sessions. It cannot open a terminal, change settings or read files on that computer.
- Nothing new is exposed. Linking never turns on Mobile Access. When Mobile Access is off, the computer answers linked computers only, on its own Tailscale port (8447), and serves no pages.
- The setting. Settings → Remote Access → Link my computers, on by default. Turning it off removes the link port and closes the links within two minutes.
- Starting a session there. Pick the computer in the Run chip and send your first message. Omniscio finds the same project on that computer by its name, then by its folder name, and starts the session there with that computer's own accounts, hooks and permission rules. Images, files and pasted text on that first message go with it.
- Driving it from here. Reply, approve or deny a permission ask, archive, and press Stop on the session's row here; each goes to the computer that runs it. Any other control (restarting it, changing its engine, opening its terminal) says it is done on that computer instead of acting.
- When a computer goes away. Its row in the Run chip shows it as offline, its sessions here read "Runs on your other computer, which is offline right now", a reply or Stop says plainly that the computer is not reachable, and the link comes back on its own when the computer returns.
- Only open sessions come across. Sessions that have ended on the other computer are not copied here, and one you delete here stays deleted.
- Never listed twice. A session that Cross-Device Sync already copied here shows once, as the live session on its computer, in the sidebar and in its project. The copies shown here never travel back through Sync, and a linked computer never hears about sessions that are not that computer's own.
- Desktop only. Starting a session on another computer works from the desktop app, not from a phone.
- It needs both computers on. The session runs on the other computer, so that computer must be awake, running Omniscio and on your Tailscale network.
Related
- Mobile Access — the phone road; it keeps pairing and device approval and is separate from linking.
- Cross-Device Sync — copies session history between your computers rather than driving a session live where it runs.
- SSH remote — runs sessions on a machine that does not have Omniscio installed.
