First-day welcome session ("Welcome to Omniscio")

When you finish setup, one chat called "Welcome to Omniscio" is waiting in your inbox. It is Ask Omniscio acting as your first-day guide: it opens on a short welcome card (on Claude it costs nothing until you answer), then helps you get set up and doing real work with AI.

What it is

A normal Ask Omniscio chat, created for you once, the moment you first finish setup. It opens on this card:

Welcome to Omniscio! I'm your guide. My job is to get you set up and doing real work with AI as quickly as possible. I'll start by asking a few easy questions about how you use AI today. Then I'll set things up to fit you. I'll always check with you before I change anything. Ready to get started? — Yes, let's go · Not right now

On Claude, nothing runs until you answer. Pick Yes, let's go (or type anything) and the guide starts; pick Not right now and it says it will be right there in Ask Omniscio when you want it.

Where to find it

In your inbox, right after you finish setup — it sits beside the welcome-video and tour cards. It also lives in Ask Omniscio in the sidebar, like any other Ask Omniscio chat.

How it behaves

What the guide does

It interviews you first — one easy question at a time — about your work, the AI tools you use today and what you wish AI did for you. Then it suggests the one or two next steps that fit you, drawn from what it can help with:

  • Use AI more the way you already do — a project, a scheduled agent, an automation or a Super Prompt built around what you told it. This is the main path.
  • Add your first project — a folder your agents work in.
  • Do your first real task — it helps you pick and word one; you start the session yourself.
  • Connect your tools — Google, Slack, GitHub, Jira / Linear / Notion, your phone.
  • A quick tour of the two or three features that fit you.
  • Tutorial videos — docs.omniscio.com/tutorial-videos.
  • Missions — it suggests one from Agent Missions and sends you the link; you press Start.

It asks before it looks at your computer and before it changes any setting, takes any key through the secure input box (never in chat), and never starts paid work on its own. After onboarding it simply carries on as an ordinary Ask Omniscio chat.

Who gets it

  • Brand-new installs only, once. It is created when setup is first completed; an install that finished setup before this shipped never gets one, and it is never created twice.
  • Every engine. On Claude and the engines that run through it, the card is pre-written and nothing runs until you answer. On another engine (Codex, Gemini, …) a pre-written opener is not possible, so the guide's first AI turn — on your own account — writes the same welcome and the same card, and the chat then waits in your inbox.
  • If it cannot be created, the "Your first mission" card appears instead, so you never land on an empty inbox.
  • It replaces the mission offer. A user who got the welcome is not also shown the "Your first mission" card (or a "starter agents couldn't start" card). Every mission stays in Agent Missions.

Turning it off

It follows two existing switches: Ask Omniscio itself (Settings → Features → Enable Ask Omniscio) and the onboarding starter-missions switch in Settings → Lab. With either off, no welcome is created. Who pays for the conversation follows Ask Omniscio's usual rules.
